My name is Diane Owens and I am an authorised Civil Celebrant based on Lord Howe Island.

I am a 5th generation Lord Howe Islander with a passion for Island life. My great grandmother was Boque,the runaway princess, who came from Apmama Atoll in the Gilbert Islands group. Boque was the daughter of a chief and betrothed from childhood to an old man. Wanting to avoid this marriage, she set off from her island home in 1853 in an open canoe with her two female attendants and was picked up by a whaling ship destined for Lord Howe Island. Boque later married the Captain of the ship, Nathan Chase Thompson, and they lived their days happily on the island.

My aim is to provide a service for couples that is professional and stress free, relaxed and fun.
I am committed to making sure your wedding or celebration goes just as you dreamed it would.

I would be honoured to officiate for your wedding, renewal of vows, commitment or naming ceremony.

I will provide you with personalised and professional services and I have a wide range of ceremonies and resources which are simple and romantic.

I have over 30 years of experience in hospitality on Lord Howe Island, so I am familiar with all aspects of island life, organisation and best locations.

I decided to become a celebrant because I wanted to create a special, unique experience in people’s lives and share my
beautiful Island with you.

Each ceremony is individually written to suit the couple, the event and the location. My ceremony package gives you the option to personalise your ceremony.

I perform one ceremony a day so I am available to offer guidance and assistance on your special day.

All your legal documentation including lodgment of your Notice of Intent to Marry form, registration of marriage and change of name (optional) are attended to.
